It\u2019s easy to become overwhelmed due to the countless monuments of Durbar square in Kathmandu.<\/p>\n<p>Located on the top of an hill in the southeast part of Kathmandu, Swayambhunath stupa is associated with the birth of the valley of Kathmandu civilization. It is generally believed that when the valley was still an ancient lake, a predecessor of Siddhartha Gautama, Buddha, planted a lotus seed and therefore brought light of Swayambhnath \u2013 the one who was born from himself. Bodhisattva Manjushree drained the lake cutting a ravine in the southern side of the valley from which flows the river Bagmati towards Southbound and established the civilization of Kathmandu valley.<\/p>\n<p>Lunch in a local restaurant.<br \/>\nIn the afternoon, visit to Patan. This city is located over a plateau which spreads over the Bagmati river, in the south of Kathmandu.
